I've been on a career-long quest to find a capo that works without retuning. It's a particular hassle on guitars with challenging necks (thick, thin, narrow, wide) and fretboards with either a flat or highly curved radius. It feels like I've tried nearly every capo on the market and I've spent hundreds of dollars in the process. But I learn the hard way so you don't have to! Spring-tension capos often put too much pressure on the strings, a problem that usually gets worse as you place your capo at higher frets, where the neck usually gets thicker. Screw-type capos are usually better, but they often aren't compensated for a specific radius. I recently saw an ad for a D'Aaddario Pro Plus capo.
